I was truly surprised by our experience because I have heard such great things. We went valentines evening with an 815 reservation. We arrived promptly and checked in with the hostess who offered a champagne tasting. We stood there until 827 with no update and my boyfriend went to ask. We were then seated by 835. There is a huge gorilla at the entrance which is in the walkway by the bar blocks the back corner seating. Any movement, patrons and staff had to excuse ourselves to those at the bar because there was no space to pass. Aesthetically the restaurant is nice looking, great wide butt chairs at the bar, but the tables are extremely close an no privacy for conversation except at the booths. We originally had reservations for Huncho House, but when I arrived there was a letter on the window saying they’re currently renovating & temporarily operating out of 1123 … literally a less than 2-minute walk across the street on the same block. I do wish they would’ve mentioned that during the confirmation call since they were great about checking in the day of. I was SO excited to finally try this spot, but found out they only serve brunch on Sundays with a limited menu. I was a little disappointed since we were celebrating a friend’s birthday but the drink menu is definitely not limited lol. I arrived early and was seated quickly. Overall had a great experience here. I will say’s it’s very loud and hard to have a conversation but if that doesn’t bother you- go! We ordered three sides which were definitely enough to share for a table of 4, general tso shrimp which were huge, whole branzino, and the scallops with crab risotto. Everything was so good, the risotto was full of flavor and the Brussel sprouts were some of the best I’ve ever had. The only thing we were disappointed in was the Caesars salad- too plain.

I’ve been wanting to check out 1123 by Chef Tobias for a while, ever since dining at Huncho House just across the street a little over a year ago. 1123 is an Asian fusion restaurant that delivers bold flavors and a great vibe. We made reservations in advance, and I’m glad we did because Chef Tobias was just voted Best Chef in Maryland, and it’s easy to see why. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a small glass of champagne, the same thoughtful welcome gesture Huncho House is known for. Made my way to 1123 since honcho house is temporarily closed and was pleasantly surprised by the food, service and atmosphere. My coworker and I were greeted by the hosted with complimentary champagne and great energy! We were seated quickly at a booth and ordered the wagyu cheesesteak eggrolls, mambo wings and sake. Our waitress was pretty friendly and checked on us to make sure we were satisfied. It got pretty busy but the service was great, food was flavorful and hot and the drinks were delicious. I will definitely be back for more.
