We celebrated our anniversary at 1789 Restaurant and it was absolutely perfect. The setting is intimate and romantic; ideal for a special night. The food was phenomenal. My husband had the venison and I ordered the lamb; both were stunning in presentation and even better in flavor. Every bite felt thoughtful and elevated. Heidi took amazing care of us, and Stephen and Nick made the entire experience feel warm, polished, and genuinely celebratory. Service like that makes all the difference. Truly a hidden gem in Georgetown. We’ll absolutely be back next time we’re in DC. Highly recommend for anniversaries or any special occasion.

My husband and I had an absolutely amazing experience at 1789 in Georgetown. The menu was outstanding, with so many enticing options—from Wagyu tartare and foie gras to scallops, mussels, duck breast, and rack of lamb. We began with the caviar service, which was a perfect way to start, and followed with the New Bedford scallops, which were mouthwatering and full of flavor. The Banks Island mussels were also absolutely divine. The atmosphere made the evening even more special—historic, elegant, and vibrant, a perfect backdrop for such a memorable meal. My boyfriend made a reservation here, and it was my first time visiting. The place is so beautiful that I honestly can’t explain it in words. Everything was very clean, and the waiter was extremely kind and professional. They explained every detail to us, which made the experience even better. The food was fresh, clean, and literally so tasty I would give it 100/100. They checked on us often and made sure we were comfortable the entire time. I have never been to a place like this before, and I’m so grateful to my boyfriend for choosing it. All the staff were so nice, kind, and attentive. 1789 Restaurant made my birthday unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond to make it feel special. They created a personalized menu just for me, featuring not only my name but also custom fish substitutions since I don’t eat meat—such a thoughtful touch. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The ambiance was equally remarkable; high-end yet cozy, nestled in a historic townhouse in Georgetown, giving the restaurant a warm, inviting feel. To top off the incredible experience, they surprised me with a dessert and a card at the end of the meal. I had a wonderful experience here a few weeks ago, and I've been thinking about it a lot since, so I thought I'd write about it. My spouse and I had family visiting, and we went to 1789 for their final night in town. The food was amazing -- every dish was a delight. I also liked the intimate ambiance. Perhaps best of all was the service. The servers had all the professionalism and finesse you'd expect from a high-end restaurant like 1789, while still being warm and welcoming (thank you for laughing at my Dad's jokes).
