Admiral Farragut

Visited Newport mid-summer and wanted to stay at a local Inn. The Admiral Farragut Inn was a block away from Thames Street so we were walking distances from everywhere we wanted to go between sailing and Bay cruises. Restaurants galore to choose from and again- all within walking distance so we never had to deal with parking. The room was cozy. My sister and I shared room 2 on the first floor. After a day of walking the jacuzzi bath was a perfect ending. The made-to-order breakfast was delicious. We stayed two nights. We will definitely return and rebook the same room!

My husband and I booked a king room in the Admiral Farragut. We ended up in the building across the street. When checking in I mentioned that we didn't know where to find the office to check in (it was in the building next to the Farragut) and the manager gave me a song and dance about booking the room through a third party. Our room had the most vile odor. The window couldn't be opened because the old fashioned rope and weights were broken. And right outside the window if we were able to open the window) we all of the garbage pails. The window treatment was full of dust. The corners of the room were dusty. We left first thing in the morning because we couldn't stand the odor in the room for one more second. The worst value for the money of anyplace I have ever stayed.

My sister and I shared the room. Huge king size bed. The Inn is close to Thames Street. You can easily walk everywhere. The jacuzzi tub was a perfect end to all the walking. Our host Rick was so welcoming and his staff was top notch. The complementary made-to-order breakfast was a nice start to the day.

I don't understand how people could give this less than four star. In my opinion it is definitely a five star. If you're looking for a hotel the Marriott is down the road, but if you're looking to be well taken care of, clean room, good prices, excellent breakfast with a Newport historic charm this is the place to stay. Rick and the staff took well care of us. Perfect!!!!

Great place to stay close to the downtown area! Staff very attentive and caring. On site parking was convenient. Breakfast was amazing! We will be back!
