I absolutely love it—the cozy environment, top-notch service, and the food is also good. I am not a ramen fan in general, but this is a pretty famous ramen place from Japan that changed my mind! I personally like their dipping sauce, so I am a fan of their yuzu-tsuyu. Also tried their softshell crab tempura; it is very Japanese style, actually fresh, light, and not oily at all. They use Local by Toast and have a great birthday deal, so definitely use it! Love it 😍
Afuri Ramen is hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Brooklyn. The gluten-free ramen was rich, flavorful, and shockingly better than most traditional ramen spots. The crispy bok choy alone deserves its own fan club, and the fried ramen egg should be mandatory everywhere. The sushi was incredibly fresh especially the soft shell crab roll, which is a must-order. The open kitchen and bar create a relaxed but elevated vibe that makes you want to stay longer than planned. Their cocktails, especially the cherry margarita, are dangerously good. If you’re looking for authentic Japanese flavors with modern flair, Afuri Ramen is absolutely worth the visit.
I’ve been to Afuri several times in Japan, but this was my first time trying one of their overseas locations. I was pleasantly surprised by the wide range of appetizers here, unlike the Afuri shops in Japan, which are more quick dine-and-go spots with just a few ramen options. For the ramen, the toppings were fine, nothing that particularly stood out, but the broth and noodles were amazing. The space is bright, clean, and much larger than I expected, with a variety of seating options that work well for both solo diners and groups. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. Overall, a great dining experience and definitely worth the trek to Greenpoint!
The tonkatsu shio ramen was so rich and thick, it is definitely delicious and worth the price!! We loved the sauce for the karage! Crispy dumpling was very mediocre but sauce was good! yuzu was clear and sweet!
The hazelnut tan tan (plant based) is still my favorite from here and sometimes I’d order delivery to have it! Really creamy and flavorful 😍 I was surprised to see the sports bar theme here because it’s totally different from the vibes in Japan. Looks like it’s blending in with the local culture, though!
