Customer Reviews
Al's BBQ has old school charm with your musical legends spray painted along the inside walls and classic dining room chairs like Grandma's house. The BBQ sauce is boss, I put it on my ribs, chicken, bread and beans because it was just that good! I had the mild and will try the spicy next time. The macaroni and cheese was fresh and creamy, it could use a coat of sharp cheddar to add a little spark. The wait wasn't long and was way quicker than 7th and Grove. Prices are decent. I appreciate the attentive young man who was our waiter, I wish I'd caught his name for the shoutout. Tip: Street parking is free on the side street, but not on 7th in front of the door.
This was our first time but it definitely won’t be our last. Atmosphere feels welcoming and like you’re coming to visit family. Everyone was awesome and checked on us throughout our dinner making sure everything was good. Eli was an awesome server!! Let me tell you that the food exceeded expectations. Everything was amazing. The ribs were tender and juicy. I’ve never had fried chicken so tender and juicy. Tell a friend to tell a friend to meet you there!!!
Since moving from their old spot behind Gaspar’s, this hidden gem has truly leveled up! The new establishment is much more spacious and the food is just as incredible as ever. The smothered pork chops were thick, tender, and packed with flavor, and comes with the yellow rice. The ribs and sides didn't disappoint either—the collard greens are easily some of the best around. Definitely a must-visit for soul food.
I try so hard to support local black owned restaurants but charging 30 for this plate is my limit. 2 oxtails and $.99 extra for mac and cheese for it to look this paltry is telling me to spend my money elsewhere.
I liked the mom and pop feel of the place but the ribs were not done properly. They were dry and hard. Burnt. They also got stuck in my teeth. The Baked beans were good.
