I stopped by Amande Dessert yesterday and was completely blown away. The desserts here are on another level. I tried the matcha cheesecake and it was incredible…creamy, perfectly balanced, and you could clearly taste the matcha while still preserving that classic cheesecake flavor. That’s not easy to do, but they nailed it. The macarons were just as impressive. I had an assortment and every single one was outstanding. The mango macaron in particular tasted like biting into the actual fruit. Nothing artificial, just bright, natural flavor. My friend, who is a baker, told me that the best Basque Cheesecake in Chicago can be found at Montrose and Kimball. I was incredulous: I know this part of Albany Park and all the little moms-and-pops food business in the area quite well, but I had not heard of this opening. So I had to go and check it out myself. And she was right! This is a very accomplished Basque Cheesecake, very polished in all aspects: in the sheen on top and in the fact that the pointed end of the wedge does not buckle from its own gooey-ness. But don’t let that fool you-the whole interior layer is gooey and delicious, as can be seen in the photo. The textures are outstanding. I ordered the milk chocolate cheesecake basque with fruit on top for thanksgiving and it was absolutely delicious! It was silky smooth and not too overwhelming like Cheesecake Factory cheesecake where one bite is enough to make you full. This cheesecake definitely makes you wanting more. And the fruit on top gave it a great balance of fresh fruit and chocolate. All of my guests enjoyed it and asked where I got it from. I also tried the macaroons. The strawberry macaroons were a burst of flavor and I recommend it for strawberry lovers everywhere. I’ll definitely be ordering more flavors from here. Especially the tres leches cake. Amande Dessert has the most delicious macarons and desserts in Chicago! I had the best breakfast today because it included their amazing treats. I really love the flavors, you can immediately tell they use high-quality, natural ingredients. Thank you so much! I will definitely be ordering again.
