Customer Reviews
Had lunch at a relatively New Mexican restaurant in Lee’s Summit called Ancho and Agave. We were seated immediately and drink orders were taken promptly. Ordered an appetizer of fried pickles that were not served until 15 minutes after we received our lunch order. By that time we were all full so most of them were left. We were all happy with our food orders and the amount of food we received but not so much with the time it took to get it. All in all it was good and we will probably try them again to see if they worked out the service issues, but really no better than Jose Peppers in Lees Summit or Ranch Grande in Blue Springs. Americanized Mexican food is pretty much all the same. The differences are in the salsa, the amount of food you get for your money and service.
My best friend and I like to get dinner to catch up every week to two weeks, and it’s fun for us to try new places. We ordered the chicken and steak fajitas and shared it. They were incredible, and we had a ton left over. She ordered the barbacoa taco and I ordered the cauliflower taco - both were amazing. We also ordered the strawberry-pineapple marg and the jalapeño peach marg, and both were delicious. The menu is very unique, and we loved that. The atmosphere is also really pleasing. The music was at a good level for conversation, and the decor was upscale. We will definitely be back.
Ask for Dana! He’s an amazing server. Just fantastic. His information, recommendations and flawless execution were outstanding. This was our first time at Ancho & Agave. It’s a small chain from IL. SO good!! It’s elevated Mexican food. Some items are very similar to what we find in Mexico. Of course, queso dip doesn’t exist in Mexico, but we love it and this one is good. The fajitas, enchiladas and Gringo burrito (with ground beef) were all simply delicious. So tasty!! Nearly every single thing here is made to order from scratch. So you can customize for preferences or allergies. The ancho salsa is spectacular. I didn’t have to ask for hotter sauce, as they have it right on the table. Red, green, and black habanero sauces. I had never seen the black one before and it was HOT! Loved it!!
1st time in. Very overpriced for portion sizes. We ordered the 3 guacamole appetizer. The pina was very good; pineapple, jicama and pomegranate seeds. The classic was loaded with jalapeños and the Senor Hector was corn based. When I asked what was in the veggie fajitas the server could not tell me. My husband ordered the fish taco, barbacoa and cauliflower tacos. He had to send the cauliflower taco back. It never came back out from the kitchen. The salsa was smoky and the chips were thick. Eclectic music - on the loud side for lunch. Clean ladies room. 0 guest recovery, 0 drink/chip refills. We sat so long we made friends with the tables beside us. All 3 tables had the exact same experience, none of us will be back.
First time trying Ancho & Agave, located in the Summit Fair shopping area in Lee’s Summit, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. We were greeted by friendly hostesses and loved the comfortable couch waiting area. We ended up sitting at the bar, where Joseph and Cory took great care of us. They were very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made excellent recommendations — even steering us away from a couple of items they felt weren’t as strong, which we really appreciated. For drinks, I had the jalapeño margarita — well balanced, flavorful, and not overly spicy. My wife had a beer. We started with the house salsa and chips. The salsa is smoky and thick, not a traditional Mexican salsa, mild but very good. The house chips were thick, crunchy, and fresh. We also
