Review: Anchor Bar, Buffalo We recently visited the famous Anchor Bar in Buffalo, known as the original home of the legendary chicken wings. Since we are vegetarians, we decided to try their vegetable wings, which were made from cauliflower (Gobi). The dish tasted quite similar to Gobi Manchurian, a familiar Indo-Chinese favorite, and had a good balance of crunch and flavor. Though it was not exactly the traditional “wing” experience that the place is known for, it was still a satisfying vegetarian alternative for those who prefer to avoid meat. The ambience of the restaurant was warm and lively, giving a classic Buffalo feel with its rustic décor, sports memorabilia, and casual dining setup. The crowd was cheerful, and the overall environment made the evening pleasant. However, our serv

Pretty good service and atmosphere. Wings could be better. They barely had any sauce on them. I like how there are coat hangers in the booth seating. The bathrooms were also very clean. Overall unless you prefer saucier wings (try Applebees or Bocce) I would recommend this place for dining.

The best place for wings in the area! I've been a regular for over a year now and prefer this location over the original one. The extra drive is well worth the wait for excellent chicken and better sauce choices. Jackie always takes care of us and remembers our order. Even if she isn't our server for the night at times, she still comes to check on us to make sure everything is right. The hot pepper bacon jam is to die for! It has an amazing sweetness to it with a small amount of heat. The bacon is the perfect final touch to create a sauce that is both salty and sweet.

Ordered 10 wings to go and a side salad. Place was dead, hardly any customers. Drank a beer then ordered the wings, the bartender made me a delicious mudslide while I was waiting for the to go order. The wings took a very long time but as soon as I received my order I cashed out and left (was done with my drink and just sitting there waiting for awhile), drove to my hotel literally 3 minutes away. Did I receive an old dead kitchen mistake that had been sitting in the kitchen window three hours before being given to me? I received all drums, not a single flat, and they were the driest, non-saucy, room temp absolute worst wings I have ever had. Came here to experience buffalo’s first wing. Was not expecting the best quality, but was given something way worse than old gas station quality. W

⭐ We came here based on recommendations, and I have to say: never again. This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. Location: We ended up at the branch near Target in Buffalo because it was closer for us, even though we heard the Main Street location was the original. Honestly, I wish we had never bothered with this place at all. Food: We ordered two sets of wings with different sauces. The first batch came out with a black hair right in it. They took the plate away and brought it back suspiciously fast—clearly just removed the hair instead of making a fresh plate. We tried to continue, but then we found another hair in the second portion. Disgusting doesn’t even cover it. Service: When we pointed out the problem again, the response was shockingly rude. Inst
