For about $470 for three people (without drinks), I’m not sure the experience fully justified the price. The restaurant itself is cute, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff is attentive. I also appreciated that the tasting menu included both a fish dish and a meat dish (venison). Overall, the portions were quite small. The menu started with two tiny soups, then a vegetable course, beet course, fish, meat, and dessert. While nicely presented, there just wasn’t much food. Flavor-wise, I wasn’t convinced that everything lived up to the price point. The meal also ran about 2.5 hours, and we all felt pretty tired by the end.
Pre-fixe restaurant with very interesting ideas. Genuinely impressed with what was presented. The menu has a equal focus on vegetarian and meat dishes with complex flavor profiles complementing creams and sauces with different types of vegetables and meats. As with any pre-fix there was at least something I wasn't a fan of but even the thing I didn't like was edible.
This was, to me, a very confusing restaurant. By design it aspire to be one of those tasting menu only, Michelin starred establishment, but both food and service struggled to reach that level of quality. To be fair, it is very difficult to run a tasting menu with innovative dishes. Asta has some interesting ideas, but execution fell short. The two dishes that stood out to be above the rest was the soup with ox tongue slices and the (optional extra) foie gras in pho broth - and even then the pho broth was too light in texture to work as a sauce and too salty as a soup. The other dishes were mostly disappointing. The Jerusalem artichoke was partially mushy. The beetroot was grainy, the orange foam was bitter, the mole sauce overwhelming for the beet that wasn’t sweet enough to balance
Asta presents as a technique-driven tasting menu, but the execution and payoff didn’t justify the restraint. Many courses felt more like concepts than fully realized dishes—carefully plated, but lacking depth, seasoning precision, or a clear through-line. The turnip with beef broth was one of the stronger bites, clean and focused, though fleeting. The duck breast was underwhelming: very small in portion and tougher than expected, with insufficient payoff for a main protein. Several vegetable courses leaned overly earthy, reading more unrefined than intentional. While the aesthetic is elegant and minimalist, flavor clarity and progression lagged. Outside of the welcome champagne and popcorn, little lingered in memory. Having dined broadly at Michelin-recognized restaurants, this experien
Dined here last night for the Vegan tasting menu plus the drink pairing which is a must. Absolutely gorgeous aesthetic but also just a very fun experience. Sheesh (sp?) and Nora were so attentive. Will be back!
