Azuki Sushi is one of San Diego’s best spots for high-quality, creative Japanese cuisine. The spicy tuna crispy rice is a must-order perfectly crunchy on the outside with just the right amount of heat and freshness in every bite. The miso cod is equally incredible tender, buttery, and full of flavor that melts in your mouth. The presentation is beautiful, the atmosphere is modern and inviting, and the service is consistently friendly and attentive. Whether you’re sitting at the bar or dining on the patio, every visit feels special. If you’re looking for a sushi spot that delivers both quality and creativity, Azuki never disappoints. The spicy tuna crispy rice and miso cod alone are worth the visit!
This was such a cute spot. The service was so nice and the ambience was great. The quality of the fish was really good. We enjoyed every single piece. Down to the dessert. We chose the adventurous option for the sashimi and it’s definitely worth it in my opinion.
Delicious sashimi! I’ve been here a couple of times, and while their sushi is good, their sashimi is even better. This last time, we didn’t have a reservation, but they were able to seat our party of three after a short wait. A reservation is definitely recommended. The staff is nice, and the ambiance inside the restaurant is pleasant. (Also, the cocktails are fun!) Since it’s close to Balboa Park, there is plenty of nearby parking. The only downside is the restroom layout: the restrooms are right next to the stairs, so you often bump into people going in or out. There are also only two restrooms.
Service, food and drinks were all exceptional! We tried the Kakuni (pork belly - melts in your mouth and is shareable), spicy garlic edemame, Azuki Mule and Momo Yuzu cocktails, By the Border roll, Stardust roll (this was my favorite!), Kobe roll, Lobster roll and a few orders of hamachi. Sitting outside on the street was not the best idea - the tables are extremely close together with hardly any space (and we had an annoying couple next to us) and random people walk by as the patio is detached from the restaurant. They do have patio heaters, but because it was a little windy, they didn't seem to do much. Overall, what a great first time experience. We will be back!
High quality American-style sushi. Hit and miss in terms of authenticity and flavors. I recommend the eel. Overall good, but maybe not worth the long wait or the price.
