Balsam Lake Lodge - Restaurant

​What a find! We stayed here last minute and were so impressed. It was our first visit, and we loved how clean the rooms were. The staff is fantastic—fun, friendly, and full of jokes. We also highly recommend the breakfast; the Bloody Mary bar was delicious and the food was scrumptious. A wonderful stay from start to finish!

Room was beautiful, staff was friendly. Thank God I called about checking in late because I was then told the whole place closes at 9pm! I called at 8pm, luckily we were only 20 minutes away. When we went to bed at 10pm, we found the sheets had never been changed on any of the 4 beds. Hair and fuzz all over all the beds with no one to help except an emergency# to call. Thank God there was a cook cleaning up in the kitchen yet and I was able to get his attention. His name was Jay and he was fantastic! Jay called the Mgr and found clean sheets and we got them changed. Jay deserves a raise! He saved the night and our stay. Our situation was fixed but the hotel should have someone on site or closer than 15 minutes away to attend to issues.

I feel the restaurant at Balsam Lake Lodge is highly under-rated. We ate there on a Monday night, a night when it's often hard to find any open restaurant at all, and loved everything about the place. The restaurant itself is clean and beautiful and in a perfect location with a great lake view. We out outside on the well landscaped back porch overlooking the lake at sunset. Our waitress was fast, friendly, and very helpful. Then there is the food... wonderful! We ordered the walleye rice cakes and meat loaf entrees. Not only did both dinners look delicious (i.e., great presentation), they both tasted out-of-this-world good. To top things off, the final bill was considerably lower than we're used to paying for dinners of far less quality and quantity. If we're ever in the Balsam L

We had such a great experience at Balsam Lake Lodge & Restaurant! The food was delicious — everything tasted fresh and homemade, and the menu had something for everyone in our group. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with that perfect Northwoods lakefront vibe. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and you can really tell they care about making sure guests feel at home. It’s such a nice spot to enjoy a meal by the lake, whether you’re coming in by car or boat. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in the area. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great place to eat on Balsam Lake!

McKenna and her team hosted our group of 42 in the Lake Room—a beautiful, cozy fireplace room on a cold January night. We had a buffet-style meal and a successful meeting, thanks to her team, and great food.
