The food was good, but the service we received was very disappointing. We arrived around 5:30 p.m. as a party of three without a reservation. At the time, about half of the dining area was empty and the bar was completely empty. Despite that, the waitress (who appeared to be the only one working on the floor that evening) told us that nothing was available and didn’t even offer the option of sitting at the bar. When I pointed out an empty table for four, she said it would be seated soon. Later we also noticed another empty table in the back. Only after I specifically asked to sit at the bar did she finally agree to seat us there. (The service from the waiter behind the bar was fine.) The funny part: we left around 7:40 p.m., and both of those tables remained empty the entire time. As t

After a day of wildflower driving we treated ourselves to this lovely restaurant. We got to sit at the counter to watch the kitchen action. Frankie helped us with our meal. We ordered 4 starters, the bread, chicken, skewer and brussel sprouts. We had a fun fried cheese ball, amuse bouche to start. We liked the bread, the pork belly, the popcorn chicken were nice and moist. We ordered two entrees, the boar and the steak. The boar with mash potatoes and veggies was a favorite, the steak was fine in a wine sauce, we like steak with a bit of fat. We were too full to try dessert but we had a nice chocolate to end our meal. The meal and service were excellent.

My wife and I recently enjoyed a terrific dining experience at Barley & Boar. We were given friendly and near perfect service by Emmarie, our server. We also sat at the counter with views into the kitchen where we were able to see the cooks perform their magic. Our appetizer, the lamb belly was beautifully braised and delicious. My entrée, the white sea bass was cooked perfectly, with the wild mushrooms and pommes puree a perfect compliment. This was the best dining experience in our week long visit to Atascadero. You folks rock!

This place is excelling in all areas - a must visit! We walked in here on a Friday night with no reservations and 4 people. They accommodated us at the bar and assured us we could order the full menu. We were immediately greeted by the bartender and offered waters. She took our drink order, and even made a custom cherry limeade mocktail for a young person in our party. We browsed the menu and placed our orders. Someone who appeared to be a manager (or in management) joined the two ladies behind the bar and made sure that everyone was taken care of. The manager were present but not invasive, attentive but not annoying - so it was perfect! We started the evening with an amuse-bouche that was perfectly executed. My mocktail was fantastic. I opted to have a salad and a starter since I was

I just had a meal and service that blew my top off. My server, Devin? Well, she did more than deliver dinner to a table. Thank you for incredible service and positive vibes! Now... for dinner. Began with a house-made vodka martini. Hand-stuffed bleu cheese olives, cracked pink peppercorns and vermouth. Yep! Starter: ALWAYS the fried green tomatoes, because they are always different and decadent to an entirely new level. "...[with] crab salad, charred scallion dip, tarragon oil, and torn herbs". Palate perfect! The entrée: Etto spaghetti, vodka cream, summer squash, asparagus, squash blossoms, garlic sun-dried tomato pesto, and grana padano. (You should be looking up these foods.) Bright, savory, fresh, and totally remarkable. Now, dessert... I've never had anything like this. It is simply
