Bay Area Bagels

I really like Burlingame's local bagel shop and have been going there for a long time. The bagels are really good, especially if you time it right and they are coming fresh out of the oven. Especially like the All in One (Everything) bagels and the plain ones. Their sandwich "adds" like smoked salmon are good but not great but I usually just take the bagels and add my own Costco smoked salmon or an egg to them so don't really buy the add on's. The people who work there are mixed - one lady is really nice, incredibly friendly and treats everyone well. Another is a little quiet and does not give off a warm and friendly vibe but still good and efficient service. It's more of a hole in the wall like location so ambiance not great but it's almost entirely takeout - I like it better than Noah's

Amazing, fresh bagel sandwiches with real eggs and thick bacon. I live locally, and this 25 yr old establishment is run by kind service workers who bake delicious quality bagels! Many reviews complain about cleanliness or running out of bagels ...which is normal for a shop. If you're looking for a fast, yummy bite while craving bagels, and not a fancy, sit-down, aesthetically Instagram able mingling spot, look no further than this shop! The $7 6 pack of day old bagels are also SO worth it! 5/5

Disappointing. 1pm on Sunday. No one to greet us. Had to wait for service. Ordered. Wrong bagel served. And fillings sloppily put in. Both our bagels were totally lob sided. As if the person serving had never made a bagel or a sandwich before. Yes this is a brutal review but it’s not hard to get this right.

I ordered a croissant to go, and the experience was genuinely disappointing. On the very first bite, it tasted old and borderline rotten. It was clear the pastry was not fresh, and the flavor was unpleasant enough that I couldn’t finish it. This left me feeling misled about the quality of what I was buying. I expected a simple, fresh pastry, but what I received fell far below basic standards. I hope the store takes better care with freshness going forward.

Unfortunately, I’ve never buy another sandwich from Bay Area Bagels after this week: normally, or in the past (like < 2 weeks ago) each bagel sandwich had high cuts of chicken or meat. Now, they’ve switched to frozen chicken cutlets (pre-breaded). Really, sub-par, low taste, high calorie stuff (usually). I’m amazed: for $11-$12 as of late November 2024, sandwich shouldn’t have frozen reheated chicken on it. Why bother with a fresh bagel? Just get some pretzel dough and volume it up, and serve it to the customers.
