This is the cheapest accommodation in the area and you pay for it in other ways. It’s an old, historic building but with very little thought and renovation for comfort. The radiator in our third floor room was overwhelmingly hot, even sleeping with an open window in winter didn’t help. We talked to the front desk about this but they said nothing can be done given the old heating system. We stayed for three nights and never had room service come. They call this a “bed and breakfast” but the breakfast is incredibly disappointing for the ~$120/ night price. See the photos of the spread here (store-bought croissants, bagels, muffins and K-cups). The old flooring and lack of sound insulation means that you hear every single step and creak. We stayed on the third floor, consider ourselves heavy

The Beacon Inn is a locally owned well-run hotel. We stayed in a beautiful room filled with antiques and all modern amenities needed. We needed a late check in. The person I spoke to was professional and made checking in easy in every way. We plan to stay here when we travel to Boston. Highly recommend

Positive: Walking out the door knowing we were not staying there! Negative: It was a bait and switch from the start. We booked near Fenway, they put us 4 miles away. It was musty, dusty, frigidly cold with a window unit ac on the ground floor in Boston. So unsafe. Staff was rude and uninformed. We didn?t stay. Beware this place.

Nice location, relatively cheap, and the lobby has lots of stuff provided for the guests. The host do the best they can with the space provided. I do also like the look of the place. It has a very unique style to it. The only downside is that the hotel room was a little cold, and I wasn't able to find something to change the temperature. But regardless, this place is ideal and worth the price. I would come back here

My 2nd stay (last Spring) saw a portion of the bathroom ceiling collapse, w/water falling in--and subsequently dripping (photos available). This was on Friday. When I called their office in need of assistance, I was informed that a service tech wouldn't be available until Tuesday--which is when I was checking out. No apologies given, no follow up, nothing. I stayed again this April, for marathon weekend, as the location is ideal. When leaving early Tuesday morning (pre-dawn), I accidentally left my Yeti thermos inside. Due to the hour, I was unable to re-enter the building, and no staff was present. I left them 2 voicemails asking to A) confirm its presence; and B) request they possibly mail it to me. They declined to do so unless I was willing to pay for the shipping. When told of the pre
