This establishment has been in operation for 80 years. The culinary offerings are exceptional. The proprietors have consistently delivered outstanding service to the community. We highly recommend a visit if you are in Jackson, Mississippi, as it offers a rich historical experience.

This place is an important part of history!!! Medgar Evers and MLK met here! The pig ears sandwich was delicious. It had a crunchy and gelatinous texture that was amazing. The smoked sausage sandwiches were also very good. Just simply on historical fact, it’s worth the trip. I will bring my parents back to experience this part of history.

No matter the outcome, I have no regrets about coming and trying this pig ear sandwich I’ve been hearing about. Either it was Food Network, or maybe TikTok, but as soon as I heard about it, I needed to try it. I marked Big Apple Inn on my map to make sure I went. I spent the night in Vicksburg and headed for my next overnight in Meridian. I planned my lunch at Big Apple Inn. As the map steered me towards the joint, the area got sketchier and sketchier. Down deserted, rundown streets in rundown neighborhoods. I started debating with myself whether I would even stop or not. I was feeling uneasy. I pulled up in front of the place and at first it looked like it was closed. As I slowly rolled by I saw the “open” sign and saw a lady sitting behind the counter. There was no one around and no cust

A living piece of Jackson's immigrant history, blending Mexican and Southern influences in its story and menu. Sonny Boy Williamson II lived upstairs, Little Harlem. Medgar Evers rented a space upstairs. The bologna was very good, I think the best balance of textures and flavors between the slaw and the grill. The Smokeys very close to a chorizo sandwich with forward heat. The pig ear is the journey for most, I see reviews calling it crunchy and I don't think that's the word. Very tender, flavored with garlic. I'm glad I had it but it's rooted in a far away expectation, i dont have the right refer3nce experience with ears. Prices seem locked in forever cheap in a neighborhood frozen in time.

This is a dive in a good way. Ordered a pig ear slider it was creamy but not much flavor but is the local favorite. The chopped sausage slider was good & spicey. The joint is inexpensive & staff was very friendly.
