Big Mama’s country cookin’

Drove all the way from the city on New Year's Day. Always enjoyed the one in the city on Beach Dr. Was very disappointed on the over cooked fried chicken & smoked porkchop. They were chewy and dried out on both meats. Corn bread was dried too. Black eye peas and collards were good. I hope they can work on the fried chicken & porkchop. Should have stuck with PoFolks, our original plan.

I go every Monday for beef tips overs rice, very filling, Fridays they got the best fried chicken in town. Stay away from the cajan 15 bean side… their all mine. Update: Big Mommas is now open for brunch and the chicken and waffles will be winning awards

Ordered the chicken because it’s on the menu everyday. Very disappointed in what I got. Overcooked and tasted old and greasy. The okra was not edible very dry and tasted like it sat under a heat lamp all day. Will not be back. Could not believe they would such. I actually felt sick after trying to eat this.

Great place. Glad to see they have a decent place finally in Southport for lunch. Wish they did breakfast during the week.

I had the fish and shrimp dinner - grilled. It was very well seasoned and huge portions. The sides were cheese grits and pea salad. They have a long list of sides that change slightly during the week. The cheese grits were the best I've ever had! Service was great!
