Big Smith's Bar-B-Q & Catfish

Nice BBQ spot. Nothing showy or eccentric. good Ole lunch and dinner. Hostess was on the phone with a customer as I walked in and respectfully motioned that she'd help me when done with the phone order. She was precise with their order and got right to me quickly. I ordered the fish basket with fried okra. Took as long as it does to fry fish fresh. Nice and crisp on the outside and fish was tender on inside. I love big bold flavors, so the fish fry flavors didn't impress. Also, the okra had been sitting in grease waiting for the fish, but I'm easily pleased with okra, and it was good. Hush puppies kept me quiet for a Lil bit lol and the tartar sauce was most definitely fresh and homemade. Overall, I'll say 3Stars, but next time, I'll get some BBQ ribs to try. Probably 3.5 closer

Big Smith's was a really cool experience. Great food, environment & hospitality! The decor and atmosphere are really unique and fun. The shrimp and catfish are fantastic! They have lots of choices for sides and they were really fresh & delicious. My only disappointment was the beef ribs. They had great flavor but they were barely warm. All in all a great experience & I would definitely go back if I'm in the area again.

This place is Awesome. The atmosphere is cute. The Staff were very friendly. The food was delicious. Husband got the Steak & Shrimp. It was so tender & juicy. I had the 2 Meat BBQ Plate with Sausage and Brisket. The brisket was to tender and full of flavor. Not overly spiced or salty. The Potato Salad, Coleslaw and Fried Okra were wonderful. Husband got the Lemon Meringue Pie. It was like his grandma's. He shed a tear. I wanted the Carrot Cake but they were out of it. An excuse to go back when passing through Sulphur Springs. The couple sitting across from us was asking about the pie. They had ordered the Rack of Ribs (was huge and so tender, it fell off the bone) and the "Small" Chicken Fried Steak (the small was the size of the plate...HUGE). I highly recommend this place. Everything was fantastic about this place. The beef ribs were perfectly cooked and huge, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was exactly what you'd expect for a Texas BBQ joint. The sides were great too but it was hard to justify eating them when the ribs were so good. Check out their all you can eat ribs plus they have all you can eat ribs, catfish and shrimp.

This place is not good warning! Dirty we had gnats on our table and on food. I’ve been smoking meats for 40 years and they blew it! I asked for moist brisket, I got dried out brisket instead. Beef rib was tough and chewy not tender at all. Green beans were not edible at all weird, sugary, and cook to death. Wife’s baked potato small and burnt. The onion rings were amazing and very larger portion.
