Bird Pepper is a new Caribbean spot downtown Bk on Flatbush. The look/decor is very nice. Its spacious. It has a modern appeal. The staff members are friendly. The music was good. They had a DJ. The service was a bit slow. That is really the biggest drawback. The food is the really good. Creole pasta with oxtail is a yes for me!! I don't like grits but two ppl at my table ordered grits and I have to admit their meals were tasty. One pertain ordered the grits with oxtail. Another ordered creole grits with salmon. Both kinda skimp pn the protein but if you like cheesy grits you will enjoy. For a sweet dish, a absolutely get the coconut crusted French toast. Things you can pass on: the pancakes- had 2 orders at the table and both were dubs. One person ordered the bake and salt fish. S
I visited Bird Pepper for brunch and had a great experience. We made reservations ahead of time, so we were seated right away with no wait. For appetizers, we tried the crab cakes (you get two) and the coconut shrimp (four jumbo shrimp). Both were enjoyable, though the coconut shrimp was a bit on the oily side. For drinks, I ordered a frozen rum punch, which came in a generous-sized glass and—especially for a frozen drink—really packed a punch. For my entrée, I had the chicken and pomegranate waffles. The waffles had a nice flavor, and the chicken was good as well, though I personally could’ve used just a bit more salt. The rest of my group said they enjoyed their dishes too. I believe the restaurant has a downstairs area, though I didn’t get a chance to check it out. There’s also a bar
The food was overall pretty decent to good. The red snapper could use a tad more seasoning. It's just a fried mild fish. My problem was the service. The menu says fried snapper any way you want it, plantains, coconut rice and beans & seasonal veggies for 45 dollars. When the waitress took my order she asked did I want plantains OR veggies. I said the menu says & which is and. She said no it does not and no one else ever had a problem. I said well that's not what the menu says. I ordered my option. She left. I then asked the host for the manager after explaining the discrepancy in the menu and what I was told. The host goes and tells the waitress who comes back annoyed and says I'm accusing her of lying proceeds to show me her waitress keyboard. I said it may say that on your machine but o
Did a reservation 1st time for my wife's birthday. Beautiful atmosphere, deejay was dropping them 90s and early 2000s dancehall hits. Seated right away. Would recommend getting a reservation. Started ordering our appetizers (sampler) and drinks but they weren't any mocktail options (my wife does not drink alcohol but love the fancy drinks). Do hope some are incorporated in their drinks menu for the future. My drink-old fashion- both were made different, could've taste the pour was off and missing garnish in the 2nd drink. We were sitting there for a while and realized no appetizer was coming for our table. Eventually asked the server about it and he claimed we didnt place any order for appetizer. Few minutes later, our entrée came and we still asked for the appetizer. The food was grate
Second time here and Bird Pepper never misses! The food, drinks, and vibes are consistently good. We had Ailka as our waitress and she made sure the experience was positive. The food and drinks came on time and Alika helped us with the best options for food/desserts! Will definitely come back again!
