This place is so great. As a newer resident, I've explored a few places in Gainesville and this one is reallllllly really really good. I asked them for their favorite/preference, and they gave me a rib dinner. The meat is the perfect texture imo, the bbq sauce is really classic/traditional and unique, the greens taste like something out of a home, and the rice is 10/10, especially with the peas. They have coke and pepsi I totally recommend this, I am excited to try their oxtail and their brisket. Perfect Saturday lunch stop joint :) My total came to $21.20, a value in 2026.

My wife and I got the red snapper lunch and griot lunch. The both were fantastic. My collards were the best I’ve had in a while as well. My wife got the ribs with Mac n Cheese and that’s a whole meal unto itself. We will definitely be coming back!

BEST BARBECUE IN TOWN! I’m glad I took a picture of it before I ate because as soon as I started, I couldn’t stop. The quality of the food and customer service here is unmatched. This Spot is a must! I will be coming back here again shortly. 10/10

Bite Down Barbecue in Gainesville, FL, truly lives up to its name! If you're looking for fall-off-the-bone BBQ that's bursting with flavor, look no further. The meat is incredibly tender, a testament to their slow-cooking expertise. The sides mouth watering, And let's talk about the sauce – it's a perfect balance of sweet, smoky, and tangy, complementing the meat without overpowering it. Simply put, it’s 10 out of 10 and hands down one of the best in town. Highly recommended!

The food was so good, and I don't even like barbecue. We had been seeing them on the corner of 13th street for ages before finally succumbing to the delicious, tantalizing smells. We had the ribs with original barbecue and two sides (rice and macncheese), a chicken sandwich with jerk sauce, and a Pineapple Lemonade. Again, coming from someone that doesn't like barbecue typically because of the smoked aspect, they are doing something damn right with the way they smoke their meats. The meat is still tender, juicy, and flavorful. The Pineapple Lemonade tastes like pineapple upside down cake in liquid form - it's gold, but if you're looking for something more tart and lemony, it probably wouldn't be your style because it's SWEET.
