While visiting Florida, my sister insisted that we make a stop at Bitty & Beau’s Coffee—and I’m very glad we did. It was actually in the opposite direction of our travel plans, but we made the detour anyway. We only intended to grab a quick coffee to go, but before leaving we took time to look around and learn more about the story behind this incredible place. Bitty & Beau’s was founded by Amy and Ben Wright, parents of four children—Lillie, Emma Grace, Beau, and Bitty. Lillie has autism, and Bitty and Beau have Down syndrome. After learning that more than 80% of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are unemployed nationwide, the Wrights created a coffee shop where people with disabilities are valued and given meaningful employment. I stopped by Bitty & Beau’s in San Marco today, and what I expected to be a quick coffee run turned into one of the most uplifting experiences I’ve had in a long time. The chai tea latte was absolutely delicious—smooth, perfectly balanced, and made with so much care. But honestly, the coffee is just the beautiful bonus. This place is so much more. It’s a human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop, and you feel that the moment you walk in. The team members—individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities—are genuinely proud, warm, and incredibly skilled at what they do. Their smiles, enthusiasm, and attention to detail made my visit feel special and seen. Me and my boyfriend came here because we both love coffee and smoothies. But we weren’t prepared for th amazing atmosphere that came with it. We actually had another customer pay for our food because we didn’t know it was cashless. But everything about this place is every bit of amazing.

Loved my black Americano - smooth! My daughter loved her match and the little one enjoyed the hot chocolate. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. Great meeting place. If you are in San Marco stop by!

What can I say that hasn’t already been said about this gem of a coffee shop in San Marco, one of our favorite neighborhoods in Jax? We opted for Bitty & Beau’s over the Starbucks across the street and were so glad we did. Delicious coffees, very reasonably priced, wonderful staff, both special needs and non. Great atmosphere, and certainly a great story behind its genesis and mission. Plenty of merch as well, quite pricey, but perhaps it contributes directly to their cause. Will visit again soon.
