initially went to BJ's to order a baby shower cake, but quickly realized they don’t offer much in terms of custom or technical decorating. The flowers and decorations aren’t handmade and seem prepackaged, so I decided to make the cake myself and just order cupcakes. I was told that 24 hours’ notice was all they needed. I placed an order for 36 cupcakes in pale pink, eucalyptus green, and chocolate frosting, with a mix of vanilla and chocolate. I explained they were for a baby shower and gave them creative freedom within that theme. When I arrived the day before the event, only 24 cupcakes had been made. They were all chocolate, and the frosting colors were neon pink and bright green — nothing close to what I requested or appropriate for a baby shower. I was told they couldn’t make more
