Black Rock Coffee Bar

I’ve only been to Black Rock a few times but I’ve enjoyed every experience thus far. The baristas are always helpful and professional. My drinks have been great—customized just the way I like them (not too sweet). I know this may sound weird but, the real standout for me? The food. Yeah, yeah. I know Black Rock is a coffee bar but woah. Those burritos? Their scrumptious ham and Gruyère egg white bites? Oof! So, SO good!

Black Rock Coffee bar absolutely exceeded my expectations. From the moment you walk in, the warm lighting and inviting atmosphere make you feel right at home. The staff greet you with genuine friendliness, and it’s clear they take pride in making every guest feel welcome. Their coffee is fresh, and full of flavor. I've visited a few times, and I have enjoyed each one. The menu is not all carbs and sweets as I've seen in other places. The barristas are friendly and always happy to help offer suggestions when asked. I was avoiding caffeine and was given some options. They serve more than coffee and tea, offering smoothies and energy infused choices. The food menu includes savory and sweet baked goods as well as low carb options. The seating is spread out so you aren't rubbing elbows with everyone else (even those in your own party). There are some comfy looking couches facing each other in the center which could accommodate a larger group. The service was great, super friendly staff and received my coffee within a few minutes of ordering. The coffee was okay, but the volume level inside was wild. The music was so loud I could feel the bass in my chest (even through noise-canceling headphones). Once I got a Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas came blaring on, I got my stuff and headed home lol. Great vibe if you're pre-gaming on a Friday night. Not ideal if you're trying to study or have a conversation.

First time here, the service was friendly and courteous, but it was a complete miss for three out of three drinks. We all ordered matcha and all three drinks looked watery, a very pale green to the point that it looked white (the first red flag); when we did a taste test, we were horrified - we could taste the matcha powder clumps and the grittiness, the milk and matcha powder ratio were off, and it had come sweetened, when we had asked the barista if it came unsweetened, which they confirmed it did. The matcha tasted watery just as it looked, like a weak mixture of milk and water, and we paid more than $20 for this order.
