This used to be a great library for small kids when the 0-5yo room upstairs was open. After the summer, when many kids over 5 were wreaking havoc in the room without their parents supervising (and the librarians did not confront them), they closed the room for months and now only open it for events. They cited safety hazards, when what really happened was they refused to chase away parents who were using the room inappropriately for their older kids. Now the whole library is a safety hazard, especially for kids 0-5. In the room, toys on the floor were not a safety hazard, as there was soft carpet to pad toddler falls. In the library, they fall on hard tile, and it’s only a meter of time before a small child gets injured. The library is a very important resource for small children in our co
I have countless memories in this library as I came here many times when I was growing up. Besides updated technology not much has changed about this library and I think that's why I love it so much. They also have a water fountain, public bathroom and very helpful librarians running the place. This will forever be one of my favorite places not just in Bay Ridge, but in all of New York City. 🙌🏽
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My child absolutely loves this library! We visit at least five times a week, and it has become one of our favorite places. The staff are always so kind, friendly, and welcoming. They greet everyone with a smile and are always happy to help with anything we need. We truly appreciate how warm and inviting this place feels every time we come.
I've been coming here since I was a kid. So grateful to have this large beautiful library in the neighborhood. A library is one of the only public places where you can be indoors and simply exist without being expected to spend money. Libraries are one of the few remaining community spaces where you're welcome just as you are. You can read, sit quietly, use the Wi-Fi, or simply be—no purchase required, no pressure. They're intentionally designed to be inclusive, accessible, and open to everyone.
This library was the favourite place for me and my children, but for now I can’t take my baby there because they closed the room that was for the babies to play inside. I am very upset.
