Brooklyn Public Library - Eastern Parkway Branch

What a lovely little library. I ordered a book online and came by for the first time - literally 8 minutes before closing. They kindly showed me where the holds were, I checked out, and was out the door in minutes. Can’t say much more, but I really appreciated that they were still open and so nice about it. That alone made my day. Will definitely be back.

Since I've been living in this neighborhood (on the same block, side of the street) of this library I can honestly admit- from when I first came to live here and now- total change. Back then it was very ummm nosiy, after school kids with absolutely no home training used to frequent this place, it was basically a zoo. Now it's an actual library. It's clean, organized and the staff are friendly. One of the good things I love and admire is to see there is someone that I remembered back then who is still there- the lady with the twisted braids/dreads with light brown eyes. She's always chewing gum- yeah her. It's super convenient for me.

Outdated and lowkey racist staff. I did not have my library card on me and politely asked for a temporary access. The librarian asked for ID and made it seem like I needed access to my grandmas bank account or something totally illegal. Then I noticed that they had the Juneteenth card available and asked if I would be able to switch as I originally wanted that one and the location that I previously signed up at did not have anymore in stock. The librarian stated that she could not give me one because they weren’t keepsakes. Whatever. Literally no more than 2 minutes later a white person came in and said that they lost their card and she happily offered them a replacement and stated “If you ever find the old one you can just keep it as a collectible.” WHAT? Awesome place to sit and relax enjoying of a good book, or use of electronic devices, the loud noise situation has been solved, nice staff that greets you once you enter I give it a thumbs up. Mornings are usually the peace hours. 🙏🏻🕊️🤍 Stay safe out there, Blessings.

Feels more like a community center than a library. Limited space. Workers are pleasant, and children are abound. Many of the adults carry on their conversations loudly. It's a nice place to read a novel or magazine. I don't recommend if you need to study and concentrate.
