Brooklyn Public Library - Flatbush Branch

I'm grateful for the children's section here. I've had mixed experience with the staff. On some occasions there were very friendly and helpful staff there who checked out my books and were kind to my kids. The last time I was there however, two librarians were at the desk and it was a different experience. When I asked one "can I check out with you?" she said "there's a self checkout over there" and directed me to a machine where it took twice as long to do the whole thing because my small daughter was with me and I had never used this machine (and didn't know my card pin offhand, etc.) It was a little frustrating. I'm not sure why two librarians behind the desk had to direct me to a machine when it would have taken 30 seconds to help me. I'm sure elderly people would struggle with the sel

Professional, accommodating staff.The staff was patient and helpful. Specifically, Olive. They had an assortment of magazines in the rack, the restroom was clean and had a nice resource table.

I came to the facility to print from the computer. I wasn't aware a library card was needed. The young woman at the front desk was very helpful and patient while I completed the online application. The facility itself was clean and organized. The computers, printers and fax/copy machines are easy to use. In order to use the printers and fax machines you have to place money on your library card. This was also easy to do as well because there is a machine that assists with that. I'm glad I found this library

Coffee shop, vinyl records, ebooks, and real books. Need to print something out? Need a book for the visually impaired? Do you like graphic novels or need to hold a small meeting in a clean meeting space? Want great recipes from another country or culture? Stop sleeping on the library! Take a chance! This place is great! There are many programs and learning opportunities at the library.

I called more than once before coming in because I wanted to make sure they were open because the last I went the library was closed for the day due to repairs. I took a chance and came at around 5:43 pm and the librarian was sitting behind the desk. I HAD 2 MINUTES to use the express computer to print out something and after that the computer logged me out before I could print out something. Had someone PICKED UP they would've told me that the library closes 15 minutes early and I would've bothered to show up 😒. The hours need to reflect that when someone is looking up this place on gmaps.
