Brown County Central Library

I frequent the library every couple weeks. In the past I loved browsing and seeing such a diverse group of people. The first strike was telling me I could not sit in the YA section after months of doing so, even though that's what I sometimes like to read, and I was never causing problems or being there when there were younger/groups of kids. Now every time I'm over there I feel like someone is watching me which is discouraging as a reader that feels most connected to that section of the library. Lately they've been doing what they can to discriminate against the homeless. "No more than one bag, no non-patron bathroom, no food or drinks" you can't even sit in the entryway!...just say what you really mean! Also, I'm a pedestrian... Beautiful, Beautiful library.. The accommodations not so much.. The friendliness is mediocre at best, as I feel like Im bothering the staff with my questions of resources the library does and does not offer.. I came with a small group( 3) of disabled young adults today looking for some fun games and a warm place to eat lunch.. I did after a bit of confusion and a phone call to get pointed in direction of less than a handful of appropriate board games for my clients.. I also asked if there a room available for us to eat our lunch in and they told me no they dont allow any food even in there small study rooms.. The library is beautiful but the workers are RUDE! On the first day I had a horrible experience with them yelling at me that I needed to either “throw my drink out or drink it” in which I just placed it in my car” which I did no problem. The next week I come back for open at 9AM where I had a study room severed, I waited outside with others before open in the rain. When an employee walked up to scan in the door at 8:59 he walked in and the few of us followed. We waited in the entrance for a second before it flipped to 9 and walked in where I was greeted by a lady who looked at me with so much ANGER and was like “we don’t open till.. oh.. now” and then said nothing. really kind staff and good return policies for books! Me and my son and daughter could spend hours there!

If you are caught in the cold and you seek shelter, they like to accuse people of smoking weed. Check the cameras. Then i went out on a smoke break came back and then all my stuff was gone! Come to find out they take your stuff! Well I went out and knew they were watching and low and behold they had my stuff! They then said that they think I was getting everything, but not sure. So if you are watching my stuff then why do you need to take it? Just do your job and prosecute the thief. Not become one.
