We really enjoyed our experience at Banh Anh Em. Even though we didn’t have a reservation, they were able to accommodate us within 10 minutes of our arrival, which we truly appreciated. We ordered the Cha Gio, Grilled scallop with butter , Banh Beo, Banh Xeo pancake, and Banh Mi. Each dish was fabulous in its own way — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The Banh Mi and Grilled scallop with butter were definitely our favorites. Highly recommend trying them! The friendly service made the whole experience feel extra special and welcoming. We would absolutely come back again.

The BEST bánh mì I’ve ever had. The OG bánh mì was packed with flavor. It was savory, balanced, and the pork floss was such a nice touch, adding a light, airy texture with a subtly sweet-savory richness that complemented the fillings really well. The grilled ribeye steak bánh mì was just as good. I don’t know what they put in that sauce, but it was insanely savory and umami. Every bite was bursting with flavor without being overwhelming. The steak itself was juicy, tender, and really well-charred, with a deep beefy flavor that paired so well with the freshness of the pickled vegetables and herbs. Fun fact (from the server we talked to): the owner started this spot after working at Hanoi House, another popular Vietnamese restaurant nearby.

The best Vietnamese food in town I’ve ever had. This wasn’t my first visit, if I remember correctly, it was already my fourth time here. This time I came with friends, and we had to wait in line. When the restaurant opened, we put our names on the waitlist and waited at the bar nearby. After about an hour, we got a text that our table was ready. Totally worth the wait. The food came out quickly and tasted amazing. We ordered Bánh Bèo, summer rolls with shrimp, scallops with scallion oil, Thịt Kho, Bánh Cuốn Hà Nội, and several other dishes I can’t even remember - there was a lot of food, and everything was phenomenal. For drinks, I had the coconut cream coffee 🥥 and the egg cream iced coffee both were incredible. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and experience. Great vibe

We arrived at 5:15 PM and were 4th in line by 5:25 PM. This place is famous for its Banh Mi, and as a native of Hai Phong, I had to try the Banh Mi Pate Hai Phong. The dipping sauce was a great touch! We also tried the Heo Quay and OG Banh Mi—all very delicious, though I personally prefer a slightly chewier baguette over one that is crunchy all the way through. The Bun Cha Ha Noi was nearly perfect; the sauce and sides were spot on, though the Cha Nem could have been fried a bit longer to get that deep golden brown shell. Skip the scallops with melted cheese if you don't like sweets—they were a bit too sugary for me. The decor and vibe are stylish and authentic to Northern Vietnam. It is definitely worth trying for the food, but the long wait in the NYC cold makes it hard to justify a seco

Lived up to the hype but our group’s wait time was minimal since we were the first round of seating at opening. My personal favorites were: 1. OG banh mi (agree with other reviews that it is the best I’ve had in NYC… packed with pate!!) 2. Scallops (so diep sot trung muoi) Had sample servings of the pho and bun bo hue which I thought were good too
