Had a Dr appointment on 72st needed to kill some time so I googled a place to eat...and saw Cafe Luka. I enjoyed my breakfast and was very happy with my decision to eat here. Good meal, clean and very friendly atmosphere. It's a good place to go if you're in the area.
We Stopped in for breakfast recently as we were in the neighborhood. Have not been there in a long time. We ordered eggs with sausage and pancakes with Canadian bacon. Waiter Edwardo was super friendly and very efficient. Food came out pretty quick. Someone came by often to refill our coffee cups. I must say for a diner, the food was cooked just right. Very tasty. The owner brothers were extremely friendly to everyone. A great morning experience. We will definitely try to come more often. BTW, the bathroom was very clean. Back to cafe Luka last week for breakfast. This time i got a waffle with sausage and my wife got scrambled eggs and wheat toast. Both got coffee. The waffle was crisp and delicious. Sausage tasty. Eggs scrambled perfectly. Hot coffee. A great place have have a good
Short version: Very disappointing food, ok service. I stopped in as I passed this diner on the street. From the neighborhood and ambiance I expected first rate food and service. Therefore I ordered what I consider a treat: pastrami on rye. I hadn't had one in almost a year, and that was at Katz's. Well this sandwich was in stark contrast: not only was there not much pastrami in the sandwich, but the meat was stringy and not fresh. Let me explain: every bite was so stringy that it would pull the entire slice out of the sandwich - it was impossible to bite through the meat. In addition, some of the ends of the pastrami were clearly hardened from being pre-sliced and left out [oxidized?). I fully expected the waiter to stop by and ask how things were with my order, especially considering
Nice cozy diner. Staff was very friendly. There was a man who i believe was the owner, seemed to know everybody that walked in. He was very friendly and we talked for a few mins. Food was good. I had an omelette and french toast. It was a bit expensive in my opinion. Lots of regulars here. Good experience if you are in the area.
If you have never eaten here you are missing out. I had to come to city and this place was recommended to me. I have now ordered almost every night. This food is delicious and always made to what I ordered. This has been my go to spot. Great salads and sandwiches ! Must try!
