California Sushi & Teriyaki

I often travel to Los Angeles on business , and I always try a new restaurant. I ordered avocado salad and super Maki special. Both were just great. Salad ingredients were fresh and dressing was wonderful. Sushi was a combination of three types and all three kinds were great. Even though it was a Tuesday night the restaurant was busy which meant it is popular among locals. Service was also great. All in all a great experience. I will be back.

California Sushi & Teriyaki has a very good catering menu. I placed a preorder for the Sushi & Roll Platter (50 pcs) in advance with a 30-piece Fried Gyoza Platter and a few bowls of miso soup. The portions were very generous for five adults to share at the office. The rolls and sushi were fresh and neatly packaged, and everything — soy sauce, wasabi, plates, and chopsticks — was included, so there was nothing extra to prepare. You just need to order 24 hours in advance, and they even offer free delivery for orders over $200 to areas near Hermosa, Redondo, Manhattan Beach, and Torrance. I chose to pick it up myself, but it’s perfect for office lunches or family gatherings! The portions are large, the variety is great, and overall, I was very satisfied.

I tried the Rainbow Roll and Salmon Tempura Roll, and both were super fresh and flavorful. You can really taste the quality of the fish — every bite was perfect. The service was also outstanding — everyone was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. But what really surprised me was the udon. They actually make the noodles fresh by hand, and you can tell! The texture was wonderfully chewy, and the broth was rich and comforting. Honestly, it might be one of the best udon bowls I’ve had in California. It's a place that's worth going out of your way to visit in LA! All the food is really delicious, but the udon noodles and broth are especially amazing. The prices are great, and our kids love it too, so we go there often. It's clean, the staff are friendly, and the sushi is fresh and tasty as well.

I’m really amazed at all the other photos of the fresh looking food and clean facilities, that was simply not the case. The service from the beginning was strange. The restaurant could use a deep clean. The condiments containers had condiments and rice stuck all over them. the actual food was some simply not prepared thoughtfully or with any love or positive energy. The cucumber salad was old wilted not fresh or crunchy. The fish was warm, thin and discolored, the vegetable roll lacked flavor crunch and freshness. I made eye contact with 4 to 5 different workers and not one person smiled. If they had to eat there, I guess I can understand. The tea however warm soothing and smiled back.
