Call your Mother Deli - Old Town

Stopped by Call Your Mother in Old Town for lunch and got the Grandezza on an everything bagel. I’ve been going to Call Your Mother since the first location opened pre-pandemic in the Columbia Heights/Petworth area, and they literally never miss. The bagels are always on point, great texture, perfect chew, and packed with flavor. Closest thing to a true New York style bagel you’ll find around here. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but the everything bagel is always my go-to.

Checked out this bagel shop based on a recommendation from some friends who have very good culinary taste, so I figured it was worth the stop. What was my impression? Not quite all that I had hoped it would be. While I wanted it to be a 5-star experience, I couldn’t get above a 4. Here’s the good: Ordering online was super easy — I picked what I wanted, paid, and got a text shortly after that my order was ready. I walked in, found my bagel waiting in the pickup area, and grabbed one of the few open tables. When I unwrapped my bagel, it looked fantastic — nicely covered in “everything” toppings and spread with the perfect amount of cream cheese at just the right consistency. This place is great. The aesthetic is really cool: they took great effort to preserve the original building (even down to painting over the patches of original plaster still clinging to the brick) and the bagels and cream cheese selections were great. I enjoyed their coffee as well. Service was attentive and accurate and prices were more than fair. Highly recommend.

i’m originally from new jersey and have been looking for a good bagel spot in old town. i got the jet ski, i had very high hopes but it was very mid and OVER price. the bagel wasn’t bad but its not worth $14.
