Absolutely phenomenal food and service! We had a reservation for our Anniversary, and we were greeted with complementary champagne and seated immediately. We shared all plates and started with happy hour oysters (not pictured), and the tamarind sauce was delicious! We followed with the Chicken Liver Mousse, Wagyu Steak Tartare, Duck Spam Musubi, Foie Gras Dumplings, and finished with the Duck Stack with added seared Foie Gras. The food was all 10/10. Each dish was a revelation. The service was super fun sitting at the counter and watching the chefs cook. The patrons were casual to fancy and it was such a wildly organic vibe. We definitely will be back when we are in Portland. The perfect last restaurant during our coastal anniversary adventure!
We went to Canard for the Dine Out Portland specials. I started with the Cara Cara salad and absolutely loved it! It was so citrusy, it really cut the bitterness of the arugula! My husband had the tartar, or friend had the chicken liver. The Tartar was very flavorful, and the chicken liver was so smooth! The Steak Frit was perfectly cooked. Our party had severe allergies, and they made sure none of our dishes had th allergens! We fly very safe eating there!
This place was on my "to do" list for a while. The atmosphere was low key, casual with moderate amounts of noise. The staff was friendly. French cuisine never disappoints. We enjoyed every dish with the exception of the roasted broccoli - a bit too salty and the texture was off. However, the trout was exceptional. I would go back just for that dish. Overall, pleased with the experience.
Highlights were the eggs and the oysters. The steam burger is really talked about but I thought it was whatever. The foie gras dumplings had not enough filling in my opinion and! feel like I just tasted a lot of dumpling skin. The duck frites was okay. I came here using my chase sapphire reserve benefits and I'm glad I got to try it but not sure if | Will return. I enjoyed sitting at the bar and got to see the chefs working in the kitchen.
It has been awhile since I have been to Canard and after tonight I wondered why. Love the small plates and snacks. Everything was amazing and completely shareable. Such an great intimate space. The service was impeccable. I definitely won’t be waiting so long to come back!
