Capish! Pizza-ristorante

I’ve been here a few times. It’s small and cozy, with decent service and decent food, though not as consistent as it should be. Until recently, my experiences were generally fine. On my last visit, however, I was genuinely disappointed. I asked where the restrooms were because, from where I was standing, there were no visible signs. A gentleman I believe was a manager or owner pointed me down the hall. As soon as I turned the corner, I heard a woman’s voice say sarcastically, “If only there was a sign.” The comment was unnecessary and unprofessional. It appeared to come from someone in the kitchen, possibly the chef, speaking about a customer within earshot. That kind of attitude reflects poorly on the entire establishment. The calzone crust was burnt and had no flavor in the areas where it wasn't. The cheese was also bland, and the pepperoni seemed to be in a single layer on the bottom but limited in that I only got pepperoni in about 60% of my bites. The side of marinara sauce was the star of this calzone order. It's not worth the price for a calzone here in my opinion. I had multiple calzones in this order; all were burnt like this. I understand pizza dough is supposed to be slightly burnt to caramelize the sugars in the dough, but this is burnt beyond that point. Looking at the top of it, half of the calzone is burnt as I'd expect, but the amount of charred crust from the other half and nearly the entire bottom made it taste burnt as a whole. Food was delicious. Large portions. High ceilings with exposed brick. Walls lined with photos of trips to Italy. Bar, pizza oven and full kitchen. The only drawback is the noise level can be loud due to the high ceilings.

Thank you for the great service and for allowing us in before open to escape the heat. The pizza was delicious, and so were the potatoes. Beer was ice cold. 🧊

Some dishes were not available due to staffing issues. However, our food was hot, plentiful, tasty, fresh, great tomato sauce, and our service was great! Used Google reservation service to secure seating for our party of four, although plenty of seating was available.
