Carlos O'Kelly's - Wichita-East

It had been 8 years since I last visited a Carlo's O' Kelly's restaurant and I frequently pass by a closed location near Quantico so I was excited to return during a visit to Kansas. That excitement gave way to disappointment when I saw that the menu had been reduced to nothing. The majority of the signature dishes that made Carlo's amazing were gone. The food was bland. The atmosphere at this particular Wichita location was excellent. The service, on the other hand, was dreadful. I'm sad to say I won't return. It's not the Carlo's I remembered.

Trying to go with new things and keep an open mind, we unfortunately ignored the reviews regarding service at Carlos O’Kelly’s. We waited an extraordinary amount of time for someone to take our drink order, to the point we almost left. Another waiter, not ours, noticed we hadn’t been helped and took our drink order. The restaurant was not busy. Finally, our waiter brought our drinks, and asked if we were ready to order. We made the mistake of saying we needed another moment, because our Littles were undecided and such. After a bit, he finally came back to take our order. During the whole time, it was a drawn out process just to get drink refills. When our food came out the order was wrong and it took him twice before he finally corrected it.

Ashley was an amazing server. She still had time to come and double check on how our food was even though they were slammed. I highly recommend this place. We will be coming back.

Service was OK. Waitress said she would bring an extra plate for us, never happened, but finally realized it when we finished our meal. Combination sampler platter had mediocre flavor. Rather bland cuisine. Salsa was simple and edible, however, far from great. The chips were fresh and very good. It's been many years since we've been to Carlos O'Kellys. Unfortunately there are too many other Mexican/Tex-Mex dining options in Wichita. Will not return, even though good value for the price.

This isn’t a bad review but it’s not a good review. Stopped by here on a fluke wanting something different figured what could be more different than Irish Inspired Mexican. It’s a rather large restaurant that was not even half full but the wait to be sat seemed unnecessary. Several people walked past me before the bartender slash waitress finally stopped to ask if I had been helped, before telling me to grab whatever bar table I wanted (was by myself). Once at the table the chips and salsa came out quick but then began the waiting game. The young lady that helped me had the whole bar area plus, at least it seemed that way. She was attentive but spread very thin which didn’t help. Ordered the Chicken Elote which is like a personal Size Mexican pizza(?) with “Mexican corn,” chicken and a cre
