Gorgeous church. It is good that Jesus is portrayed more like he probably actually looked rather than the usual rockstar version. I thought Mary with her hands-raised seemed to say "whatever," or ""heck if I know what's going on," but I suppose this is a praise pose.

Salt Lake City, Utah USA The Cathedral of the Madeleine is a Roman Catholic church in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. It was completed in 1909 and is the cathedral, or mother church, of the Diocese of Salt Lake City. It is the only cathedral in the U.S. under the patronage of St. Mary Magdalene. The Cathedral, under the patronage of St. Mary Magdalene, is the mother church for Roman Catholics in the State of Utah. Construction began in 1900 and was completed in 1909. The cathedral combines a predominately Romanesque exterior with a Gothic interior. The exterior of the cathedral remains substantially the same today as it was in 1909, except for the addition of a tympanum over the main doors and the double flight of steps leading to the main entrance. Beautiful cathedral! I didn't even know Salt Lake has this, but it is a historic building from 1900. It was open on a Friday when I went and it had no charge. It was not crowded at all!

A beautiful cathedral with a amazingly beautiful altar. The stained glass is awesome. I'd love to hear the pipe organ but I'm only in Salt Lake City for two days.
