What a disappointment. After enjoying a beautiful Christmas holiday experience several years ago, we had our hearts set on Thanksgiving at Cedar Knoll, knowing we'd have a real Americana experience. NOT. Even though we'd requested another room when we made the reservation, we were seated in the LaFayette room. When we entered it was fully lit, all white walls, folding tables with table clothes, not a single center piece on a table. The room lacked any warmth or character, and the management made no effort to create one for this event. If you didn't know where you were you might think you'd come to a church social or rotary club meeting in a basement. We were escorted to our table and had to remind the person to check our coats. The waitstaff was stretched, the time between courses was
My boyfriend has been wanting to try this restaurant and I took him for his birthday. I was a little hesitant, but everything we ordered was spot on, reasonably priced and delicious. We had bacon wrapped scallops, veal, crab cakes and drinks. The have a great drink menu, to include local beer choices. Service was wonderful and they have beautiful views of the river.
Valentine’s Day dinner here was, unfortunately, a very expensive disappointment. We were blindsided by a $120 per person prix fixe menu that was never disclosed on the website or at the time of reservation. Transparency matters, especially when you’re asking people to spend this kind of money. The food itself did not come close to justifying the price. All but one of our main courses arrived cold. At $120 a head, that should simply never happen. Out of roughly 10 items served, the only standouts were the smoked salmon appetizer, the bread, and the beef Wellington. Everything else ranged from forgettable to genuinely underwhelming. I have included a photo of the two sides that we were served. This was the portion that was sent out for TWO people to share at $120 each. Both were cold and a
Great choice for dinner when the inn at Mt Vernon was closed for a private event, during our visit. If you get a table by the window it’s a great view of the river.
I wouldn’t even give one star if there’s an option!!!! 😡Not a great experience at that restaurant! 🤢 Ordered oyster Rockefeller, veal scallopini, and jumbo prawns and scallops for Valentine's dinner and were super disappointed with the food quality and ridiculously long wait for the main course. Definitely not worth a price. 😤
