Charlie's Place

Out of the seven states we visited, this was by far the best restaurant from our recent vacation!!! We fell upon this hidden gem COMPLETELY by accident!!! My wife ordered the Squid dinner and I ordered the Fisherman's Platter. The amount of food was more than abundant!!! Everything was perfectly battered, seasoned and fried. Everything on both dishes were phenomenal and WELL worth the price. Shout out to the cooks in back!!! Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu she was such a lovely and kind person as well. The atmosphere was welcoming and felt very familiar, as if you were a regular and knew everyone that was dining there and working there. In conclusion, this not only the best restaurant from our vacation but in the top 5 of any restaurant that I've been to

Steps away from Good Harbor Beach and a short drive to Downtown Gloucester, Charlie’s Place always has great breakfast and lunch! I have never been for dinner! This is a nice place to have fried clams with French fries 🍟 or onion rings. The service is diner fast. Although the food is terrific, the restaurant has all the hallmarks of a great diner: fast service, great selection, and fast turnover. I loved my fried clam sandwich. I have also had great cheeseburgers 🍔 here! I had an unbelievably delicious blueberry bread pudding with whipped cream!

Best Haddock Chowder on the island. If your craving fried seafood definitely the place for that. The Arancini are softball size and a meal alone but get there for lunch before they are gone. Great food and have been going there since I was a kid with my grandfather. Been a great spot for over 40yrs. Still kicking. One of the greats in town.

Great little breakfast, lunch and dinner spot. Super reasonably priced, which was a great find for us. Grilled cheese was 3.99, add a bowl of their amazing haddock chowder or the lobster bisque, a great meal all around! Our server was polite, friendly and spot on in her service to our table. Our was busy when we got there, they were just winding down from lunch. Don't forget to get dessert too, we had blueberry pie, made with those delicious Maine wild blueberries. It's a great spot not to be missed. Decor was simple, but the place was clean. Give them a try!

We had breakfast at Charlie's for the first time last week. We've been living in Gloucester for a few years now and haven't tried it but we've heard great things. We were immediately seated at around 10 AM on a Saturday morning. We started off with apple juice and a coffee roll, the coffee roll was good, pretty sweet, lots of icing, the roll itself had a nice flavor because it worked well with the icing, but the part without the icing didn't hold up as well. It was little tough and kind of molasses flavored. For our meals we ordered the Florentine Benedict, strawberry French toast and the chorizo hash omelette (at first.) The spinach on the Florentine Benedict was not the best, it was a bit too watery, this might be due to the blanching process which helps the spinach maintain its color, b
