The only place I know in Utah where I can get Carolina style BBQ. Even without sauce, the smoked meats are tasty but they do offer quite a range of BBQ sauces. The only reason I didn't give Five Stars is because they're only open two days a week.
The owner responds and says I don’t know good BBQ, if you think this is good YOU have no idea. I know good BBQ and Miss Essie’s is THE best in the state! I support local businesses all the time especially in my day time work and you’ll get no support from me. See photo for their response. Online ordering didn’t work which was inconvenient. The employee that took my order was VERY nice BUT the owner was VERY overbearing, micromanaging, and not nice. The service rating was for the lady employee. FOOD: for the price I’m paying we gets nothing in return. Not worth it at all! OH FOOD has no flavor and is VERY bland. Their overall rating is a sham because it’s not good. ATMOSPHERE: tables and seating are VERY sticky.
The guy at the register was a character. Bit of a spit-fire, haha. We got a three meat plate. They were out of ribs and chicken, so we got pulled pork, brisket, plus an extra serving of brisket, a side of corn bread and red-skin mashed potatoes. Pulled pork was fantastic. Full of flavor and very juicy. Brisket was pretty mediocre. Tasted and had a texture more like a pot roast than a brisket. The corn bread was dry, but okay. The red-skin mashed potatoes were very good. Great flavor and texture. I don’t think I’d come back based on the price and the mixed bag of results, but worth a shot if you’re a BBQ fan and want to try something local.
3.8 Stars, Better than average BBQ. Will come back to try other items to get the full experience. Ribs were pretty good, juicy but a little too cooked for my liking, I like a firm bite to the rib looking for that clean dry bone. Looked and tasted good. Sausage was pretty good. Chopped chicken was ok, little dry and no smoke flavor at all, think it may have just been grilled. Mac and cheese was above average, the cornbread was moist and tasted great.
