Definitely a small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant, and for a Sunday night, it was busy. I don't really recommend the place for larger groups, as it looks like they can only really accomodate one large group at a time. We called ahead for our group of 8, but unfortunately that did not secure a table for us.. My favorites were the beef chow fun, the pickled cabbage fish soup, and some hot jasmine green tea! The chow fun reminded me of a less sweet pad see ew and the sour fish soup reminded me of sinigang! We also ordered the sweet/sour short ribs, ganghood fried chicken, and stir fried four seasons veggies. The short ribs and fried chicken portions were a lot smaller than expected, and didn't taste really freshly cooked.
I was in the area and came in for take out to enjoy for lunch the next day at home. I live in an area that doesn’t have very much in the way of ethnic joints, so anytime I’m in the Northern VA area, I try to grab something to bring home and enjoy for dinner or lunch the next day. I used Toast to place my order and simply went in to pick it up and it was ready on time for my arrival. I re-heated what I got in the microwave oven and that didn’t take long and it tasted great. I got their cumin beef and their long pepper chicken. Both had the correct, and diverse flavors I enjoy from “non-American-style” Chinese joints. The heat level was also perfect; nice & spicy!! The textures of the proteins were spot on. The amount of seasonings and everything were great too. Definitely would ret
I drive 45 minutes to have the Soup Dumplings. They are cooked to perfection, with the right amount of meat and soup ratio inside. The food here is incredibly tasty, and always satisfies. The combination low mein has a smokey flavor from the wok which I absolutely can't get enough of. The Orange Chicken dish, wasn't my favorite, but my 7 year old loved it, so it was a win! Not a very large restaurant, but the food has BIG flavor.
We get Chili Wok at least once a month. Our favorites are Ganghood Fried Chicken (marinated chicken thigh in dry spicy seasoning) and Farmer's Stirfry (egg, tofu skin, celery, peppers). Large portions. Spacious parking lot (in the Giant shopping center). If you're ordering takeout, easy to order and pay using their online website.
Our favorite Chinese restaurant in the DMV area. We bring our Chinese friends here for gathering frequently. Highly recommended - dry fried cauliflowers, mala dry hot pot, pork intestines, stir-fried cabbage, farmer’s stir fry and the green beans with pickled cabbage.
