The brothers that operate the Diner have been in the business for eons. They legitimately can be classified as old codgers. Learning the trade by working for other restaurants, they eventually went out on their own, opening with the Duffy’s down town and a Duffy’s on South Sheridan. Remember that name, “Duffy’s,” you will see it again in Broken Arrow. There was yet a third diner operated as City Diner on Lewis. That closed during covid. Well, the old duffers are back with the opening of City Diner, in the old Hideaway Pizza in the Fontana Shopping Center. The diner is old school. I am talking Hot Beef Sandwich old school. This ain’t a First Watch, Neighborhood Jam, or Hatch Early Mood Food kind of a place. It is a classic diner. A beans and cornbread for the daily special kind of place.

I had the veggie scramble eggs with ham. Veggies were crisp and fresh and the eggs were perfect. Generous portions brought out hot and quick. Charlie had the chicken and waffles, on the Charlie scale a 99. Try them with honey. Chicken was seasoned well with a thin crispy batter. Excellent! Staff was friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing.

Plate-licking good. Nice. Clean. Great staff. One of the best meals I’ve had lately. Highly recommend. Yummy!

We went here for breakfast. I ordered an omelet with home fries and toast. The omelet was ok, the potatoes were undercooked! We asked for regular butter not the liquid stuff for our toast, instead our toast was so smothered with the oil stuff it was soggy! When we complained our complaint was brushed off and we were ignored the rest of our time there! We definitely will not be eating here again!!!

Good experience, I stopped because I noticed my neighborhood has a new diner! This place has been open one week. Was not disappointed by the daily special, a fried fish piece, two sides, four butterfly fried shrimp, and two hush puppies. Waitress was very attentive, the owner’s brother came to say hello and make sure I had everything I needed.
