Classic Diner

A good basic breakfast with a classic hometown diner atmosphere. I had the eggs, Benedict (my bellwether for a breakfast joint) with grits, orange juice and coffee. My wife had the BLT with fries and a pickle. The eggs were poached in a classic style, but were a little watery, and the hollandaise sauce was a little thin as well. Flavor was good. Grits were old-fashioned style and flavorful, but again were somewhat watery. I prefer mine to have some thickness to them. Wife was disappointed with her BLT, only one piece of lettuce, though the rest was pretty flavorful. Unfortunately, the fries tasted like the oil needed to be changed. I enjoy a old style diner atmosphere, and this definitely had it, though it needed a little cleaning and loving care. Our server, Miss Dee, was terrific. A

One hungry man $10.50 (actually $15.99) One order of biscuits and gravy, which was basically a cracker because one of them was so flat it didn’t even resemble a biscuit. And the other was very flat but at least resembled the biscuit. $8.99. (Actually ?) 3 egg meat and Cheese sandwiches one was supposed to be without and side, but we were given French fries. No price, but the 2 egg breakfast that includes meat and toast is $8.99. (Actually $10.99) Now I did see the sign that says eggs are 50¢ more starting 3-6-25. I get that we have to pass prices on when things are that expensive. But I know food service crates of eggs are not a dollar an egg. So you are essentially charging people $.50 more for each egg on their sandwich. I was told that the menu was an old menu. And that she asked if

Classic Diner in Virginia Beach is a solid spot for comfort food. The menu has all the diner classics, the portions are generous, and the food itself is really good—fresh, satisfying, and exactly what you’d expect from a traditional diner. That said, the service can be hit or miss. While everyone has always been friendly, the pace and attentiveness could definitely be better at times. Overall, it’s still a place we enjoy coming back to for a good meal, and with a little improvement on the service side, it would be a standout.

We had lived in Va Beach 18 years before deciding to move to the Northern Neck. We never came here while living there, yet we were in town today for an appointment and while I was waiting for my wife I decided to see what was near. And this place was just about across Providence in the shopping center. We had the Corned Beef Rueben and Philly Cheese Steak, both with chips. We each ate a half of each one. Wow, What delicious tastes. I am sorry we didn't come here in the past when local. Well Done. Highly recommended. And we will visit again. Thanks for the fully bellys for the ride home.

They have the best Diner cook in Hampton Roads. The food is always good. Service depends on who you get. The skinny one who talks and companions all the time can ruin a meal. The other servers are nice.
