Cottonwood Restaurant & Bar

My best friend and I arrived for a 7:15 pm reservation and were immediately seated on the outdoor patio as we requested. We were greeted by Kate, who hands-down has to be the best server in this area. She was kind, knowledgeable, friendly & made us feel very welcome. Throughout the meal, she checked on us frequently and made sure we had everything we needed for dinner. The assistant staff were outstanding as well, from refilling our water to delivering beverages from the bar, and delivering our food. We recently had my daughter's wedding and reception at Cottonwood. The service, ambience, and food were all fabulous. I love how the restaurant worked with us to plan the best possible menu for our budget and the right quantities. They were able to accommodate a dj/dancing, a photo booth, outdoor ceremony, and indoor dinner. Everything was perfect.

We were really disappointed with this experience. We drove in for our first visit and had a 6:45 pm reservation for two. We were seated at a very small two-top pushed against a wall right next to the kitchen entrance. I had a direct view of staff going in and out, and my husband had his back to it, constantly feeling the noise and traffic behind him. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Most tables overlook the view, the lighting is lovely, and the space feels thoughtfully designed. Unfortunately, none of that applied to our table. It felt like an afterthought and honestly not appropriate for a reservation, or for a restaurant of this caliber. Everywhere in town was packed last night so we ended up at Cottonwood on a 6 top in the lounge where yes the music was extremely loud, as was the bar, which was filled with a 50 person birthday party. However, the food was all very good. The service was also great. We enjoyed the music, too.

Sometimes, you find a restaurant that just makes you comfortable. Cottonwood is that type of place. From the moment you enter, it feels almost like home. It has the "old Tahoe" feelings, too. I didn't realize how much i missed the old days. The food was very good. The servers were very friendly. I had a wonderful meal.
