Spent $50 on two awful bowls of pasta that 1) were the wrong order (didn’t include any of our add ons) and 2) had HAIR in it. I used to love this place but the service was awful and the food was disgusting. I know it wasn’t my hair because my hair is black and the hair was blonde, and cooked into the food.
I ordered the rigatoni with the Vodka sauce and I was pleasantly surprised! The pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce was really flavorful. Will definitely be back!! (It tastes better than it looks lol)
Walking through Union Market, this place caught our eye, and we decided to give it a try. Ordering was easy and straightforward, and we were told our food would be ready in about 10 minutes — which they pretty much delivered on time. We found a table outside and sat down to enjoy our meals. Unfortunately, the pasta wasn't cooked long enough, leaving it quite firm and undercooked. This really took away from the overall experience. While the service was fine, the undercooked pasta was a major letdown. Hopefully, they can improve on this, but I’m not sure I’ll be returning.
So y’all know I started a new segment where I’m going to DC’s worst rated spots right? Well there’s a spot in Union Market that’s rated 2.9 stars, for food, & customer service. Could be true, or not!! Let’s find out!! . Where I am: Cucina Al Volo . Location Reviewed: 1309 5th St., N.E. Washington D.C. inside of @unionmarketdc . Menu Includes: Pastas-Rigatoni, Fettuccine , Spaghetti, Ravioli, Meatballs, Chicken, Shrimp, Spinach, Subs, Salads, & Beverages. . Items Reviewed: Their Spaghetti & Meatballs (with parmesan cheese on top $12.50). PASS. I needed some more flavor in this. Salt, oregano…something. Thick pasty noodles, unseasoned meatballs, bland. I wanted this to be better. Their Chicken Parmesan Sub (with breaded chicken tenders, marinara, & mozzarella cheese, on a toasted roll $13.5
Horrible Experience! I had hair in my food. I showed them. The girl at the register says, “it could be yours.” Clearly, it’s a blonde strand of hair. I asked for my money back and they said they didn’t have the ability to. How are you taking my money with no way of giving it back? They didn’t even have the courtesy to ask to make my order over. For $20 pasta and sauce, it’s ridiculous. Also, PLEASE get another person take your orders. The girl there in the pink tyedye shirt is going to ruin y’all’s business. Never again!
