D-Hall

It’s an okay place for meals for JMU students, especially late at night. Food is decent. Sometimes service could be better. One time I ordered a hot dog through the starship app and instead of, you know, a hot dog, I got a pair of hamburger buns with a hot dog in it, and that was all. Not even the condiments I asked for or anything. At least I got fries too. How do you even mess this up?! I figure they ran out of hot dog buns, but they could’ve just canceled my order instead of trying to make an atrocity out of my order. Seriously, what went through the workers’ minds that time because there’s no way you get an order for a hot dog, notice there’s no buns left, and think the next logical thing to do is just make it anyway but put it in hamburger buns. D-Hall is a student cafeteria on the JMU campus with amazing food. It has indoor and outdoor seating. There is also a food court below that has other paid options like Chick-fil-A and Steak ‘n Shake.

I visited Steak n Shake on campus this evening. The food came out hot and it was very good. Ordered a banana milkshake with a cherry and whip creme which was delicious.

It is located in the JMU dining hall, so the opening time on Google Maps is not exactly correct. The whole first floor including this store is closed during school vacations. If you are unsure if it's opening, search "jmu dining" and you will get a page of realtime schedule of all restaurants in the campus. I always check that when I work during school vacations because they might close on certain days.

We stopped in while visiting friends recently. We tried their signature burgers, fries, shakes. All excellent. I hope that they expand their locations.
