Dash Japanese Tapas and Sushi

Would be a 3.5 if I could but I leaned to a 3 because the most expensive item I ordered was only okay. The 10 piece omakase for $68 seemed like a good deal but the pieces of fish were very small and although the presentation of each was thoughtful, the quality and taste was only average. I also ordered the oysters which were excellent and another specialty roll which was quite good. I enjoyed the food overall but I felt it was overpriced for what I got

Casual spot with some less-common menu items and good service. I’d be open to coming again and trying more, but I didn’t love what we ordered. The Top Secret was probably our favorite, followed by the ikura ankimo though that’s worth the price in my opinion. I liked the broth of the oden but the solid food it comes with is 90% fish cakes so it gets repetitive. The stuffed mushrooms were not my thing - the mushroom was too chewy to pair with the imitation crab.

Very delicious and good for the price. The Dash special sushi was $18 But the shrimp on the top was a little bit sweet.

My favorite spot in downtown San Mateo for amazing quality fish. Everything is delicious from the tapas, to the nigiri to the sashimi. We always have amazing service from everyone but Erika was specially awesome tonight. Thank you for an amazing dinner!

Dash is no joke! Each plate was out in under 5 minutes after ordering. And each dish was thoughtfully plated, fresh, high-quality, leaving us wanting more. Fish tasted fresh, and all the ones we tried had a different flavor profile. The peach shirome was interesting and refreshing, we were huge fans. We absolutely loved the oysters! To quote my boyfriend, “this might be one of the best oysters I’ve ever had.” Great blend of flavors with the lemon and roe and sauce. Not pictured are the shishito peppers which were good, but actually pretty spicy which shocked us a bit. We sat at the bar and the sushi chef was very attentive to us.
