Detroit Taco Company

I really wanted to like this place! It's close to my house and I love Tacos and all things Detroit. But from the indifferent service to the only salsa being in foil packets (like taco bell only more ketchupy) it was a huge disappointment. The "crispy taco" shells tasted just like grocery store Ortega from a box. There was a miniscule amount of chicken and almost no cheese in them. The shells were literally less than 1/3 full. I should have known something was up when we came in at 6pm on a Friday and the place was empty. Even though we were the only customers, the guy at the counter never said hello, or welcome in, or can I answer any questions. He just stared at us with an annoyed look while we read the overhead menu. When I asked for salsa he just pointed to the tin bucket of foil packet

Best freshmex I've found in the Midwest. Serving sizes are filling but not sickening. Everything tastes fresh and you don't feel like you gained 20lbs after eating there. Chill atmosphere. One of my favorite places to eat in the Detroit area.

Went to this place for the first time yesterday night. The woman working at the register was very sweet and offered great recommendations, but really everything is great. Their hot sauce is HOT so be warned. Enough to humble my Indian friend. I inhaled the food before I remembered to take a photo, but thank you to the kind lady who introduced me to smashwraps! Can't wait to get more. Also the artwork is amazing inside.

The food is absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and made with care. What really sets this place apart, though, is the staff. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, it makes the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot I’ll keep coming back to!
