Durham County Library - North Regional Library

Durham Chess club meets 2nd and 4th Saturday afternoons from 1:30 to 5:30. Players of all ages and abilities play for fun. It's a great library with quite a selection of DVDS as well as traditional books. Spring cherry blossoms are blooming now.

Our favorite Durham Library branch. Staff is friendly and helpful. Books, movies, and magazines are all available for self checkout. You can also download ebooks and audiobooks. Computers are available for use. There is an extensive children’s collection which even includes puzzles. A teen section gets very busy when the neighboring middle school has finished with classes on weekdays. Meeting rooms are available to reserve. Outdoor seating is also available. Check their website for classes, programs and book discussions. Plenty of free parking is available with two spaces reserved for electric vehicle charging. The chargers are currently free. The library is also an early voting site, so it can be busy around elections.

Great library - especially for kids. My six year old figured out that he could ask a librarian anything, and now he heads straight for the desk every time we go in, and they tolerate and encourage him every time he shows up. Great section for little kiddies, too... Mask optional as of February 2024.

Nice place to sit and read, study, or work. There are plenty of available options for reference materials. Durham County really should put some money into the furniture that is worn from use.

I really like the Durham county library. Since I moved to NC, I have been to the Main library and two of the branch libraries and I love it. I've also been to the Raleigh library during the same timeframe and Sorry, Raleigh. Durham beats the pants off you. Still, the North Branch is my favorite one now. The librarians are awesome, and just, nice. Enjoy!
