El Asadero Mexican Grill Fort Lee

Very disappointing experience. My husband and I arrived around 7:40 PM. The restaurant was noticeably under capacity (not even close to full), yet we waited until 8:25 PM without anyone coming to our table. Before leaving, we asked multiple servers for assistance and were completely ignored. As we walked out, we informed the receptionist that we were leaving due to the lack of service. Her response was simply “ok” while she remained on her phone. When I mentioned that ignoring customers is poor service, she replied, “ok, good night,” without looking up. Waiting 45 minutes in a half-empty restaurant with no service is unacceptable. Very poor customer service. Do not recommend.

Within the wide variety of Mexican food restaurants, El Asadero Grill offers an authentic experience of typical cuisine. ​You can find the well-known tacos; I especially recommend the carne asada (grilled steak) ones. If you like spice, try the chorizo (spicy sausage) ones, and if you want to try something new, the shrimp ones (camarón) are excellent. But they also have traditional dishes such as mole, pozole, or pancita (tripe soup). ​I want to highlight the beauty of the place, which revives the tradition of Mexican haciendas, surrounded by Talavera (the decorative wall plates), wooden furniture, and a warm atmosphere. However, for those who enjoy a party atmosphere, it has a very stylish bar with a great vibe. ​Without a doubt, it's one of our favorite places, with a prime location.

Food 🍅🥑🌽 Veggie fajitas were excellent. I was with a Mexican friend who swore the tortillas weren’t made in house, but as a gringa, they sure fooled me. The guacamole portion felt a little skimpy, but I'm honestly probably saying that because I inhaled the entire bowl within 30 seconds. Next time I'm also going to ask for more sour cream. Ambiance🕯️🪑🥄 More polished than your average casual Mexican spot, but not stuffy. Definitely jeans-friendly. Prices💰💲💅🏼 Felt fair for the quality. Not bargain cheap, but not gouging either. Service💁🏼‍♀️🍽️🍷 Perfectly fine--nothing remarkable, but no complaints. Overall Solid spot I’d happily go back to from time to time.

I’ve been here twice, and my first visit had me completely sold—amazing vibe, delicious food, and an overall fantastic time! The second time started a little slow though. The guac and chips took a while to arrive and so did the drinks. I ordered the veggie tacos and honestly, they were quite disappointing. It was basically sautéed veggies on a taco with a green sauce served separately on the side — the most unassembled taco that didn’t come together at all as a dish. Definitely not what I expected. That said, the red snapper we ordered was excellent and easily the highlight of the meal. The service was very warm and friendly throughout. Overall, we had a good time, but my entrée definitely missed the mark.

Carlos and Valentina were amazing and very attentive. Highly recommend checking out this place. Fresh food and excellent drinks.
