El Caldero Restaurant

the experience that we (5 adults, 1 kid) had here was very unfortunate. firstly, the restaurant was completely out of rice. after we placed our orders, (2 sancochos, 1 mofongo, 1 burger, 1 Tentacion De Marisco Fritos, and 1 ceviche de pulpo), the waitress came back explained to us that they could not make ceviche because they are out of octopus; (no problem) we ordered a different item to replace the ceviche. 40 minutes go by and the food comes out, but the waitress only brought out 5 dishes. when we told the waitress about the missing dish (Tentacion De Marisco Fritos), she stated that we did not order that dish. it was a back and forth discussion until the waitress claimed that she had told us that the kitchen couldn’t make that plate (which never happened). the waitress then proceeds to

This place was amazing. Love the place the music, the food and the staff was super. If you are looking for a place to go with family, a date this is the place. I went with my friends on a karaoke nigth and we had an amazing time. And the prices are good. Love it. See you next time.

El Caldero is a fantastic gem within Lawrence. The drinks are super strong, the food is flavorful the service is terrific. El Caldero hits on all the key aspects required to be a successful restaurant. Whoever is within the kitchen is a seasoned veteran, and the dishes represent a talented chief. If I could critique anything, it would be the portion sizes wish they provided a bit more food. The ox tail was incredible fall off the bone, nice and fatty, but they only provided me with three pieces.

The food was absolutely delicious (I got the Dominican spaghetti and a flan). The restaurant itself felt like a warm and welcoming space. We had a minor issue with the language barrier, but it was immediately rectified in a very timely manner.

The best mofongo with salsa criolla I have tasted. True to tradition, made with fresh ingredients - it is clear from the consistency and flavor. Highly recommended!
