First time here. The staff were so friendly and inviting. The atmosphere was beautiful and clean. When looking at the menu, there were so many options. It took forever to make a choice. We ended up with steak chimichangas and baja shrimp quesadilla. The food was so fresh and so good, we can't wait to go back!
4/2 update: Stopped in on Tuesday for a celebration lunch! We took note of the $5 house Margarita special and enjoyed 2 rounds of those. I love how efficient the service here is and we were the only patrons in the restaurant when we arrived. The food was delicious as always and we love the self serve salsa bar (white dip is our fave). My bf had the lunch carnitas which was still a good portion and delicious. I had shrimp chimichangas ($2 upcharge) and a soft taco (I love that the tacos here are always filled with meat and not flat and lump like other places). All our food was fresh and seasoned well and it was nice to enjoy the restaurant while it wasn’t too crowded. Always a recommendation for me! — This was my first time coming to this location and I was very pleased. I’ve been to the
A delicious Mexican oasis! Tortilla chips on offer with a cheery assortment of salsa (see my pic with samples)... The camarones borrachos (drunken shrimp) were big, fresh & full of flavour. If I lived nearby I'd be a regular diner here.
I have eaten at El Cerro Azul many times over the years and was always happy with the food and service. Last week I was craving a burrito, so I went in for lunch. I had a Mixteca burrito and a medium margarita. The total was $33 and ended up over $40 with tax and tip. $40 for lunch!? With prices at that level, I cannot justify going out to eat. Sadly, I won't be back for a while.
We had a fabulous meal here! We ordered the queso fundito, Tacos de fajitas, a steak quesadilla and sides of rice and beans, both refried and black. The steak was flavorful and tender with ample portions and just the right amount of heat. The queso fundito had a generous portion of chorizo and was piping hot. The table salsa was perfect and there’s a salsa bar for variety. The service was fast and professional as well as knowledgeable about dishes. Overall outstanding food!
