El Cerro Reyes

I was greeted in a friendly manner and seated at a booth by the bar, just as I requested, so the visit started off well. I ordered a top-shelf margarita, but what arrived was a large, messy concoction in an oversized glass that was sticky around the rim from overflowing, complete with a novelty straw, an orange slice, and two limes. It wasn’t appealing to me visually, and the taste was bitter and much stronger than I prefer. Others might like this style, but it wasn’t for me. I enjoy chimichangas and have had enough of them over the years to know when one is well made. A good chimichanga should be fresh, crispy, aromatic, and balanced with a good filling and queso topping. Unfortunately, this one had none of those qualities. Food was great, service was great, we sat outside and enjoyed all the company that came to say hello to us, got lots of food there(there's so many things that sounded great but we went with the pina royal and ceviche) and even some ice cream to go!

I came back to edit my review because of how awful my experience was today. The first time we went there the food was great and the service (by Giovanni) was spectacular. The food in my pictures were from the first time we went. Today we were unfortunately served by Edgar and had the complete opposite experience. We went back on Monday afternoon for a quick lunch. At first we weren't given the lunch menus which wasn't a big deal because when we asked for them (although we had to ask twice) we eventually got them. We then asked if the Margarita special ($3.25 each) applied during lunch. We were told yes and so in response we ordered two. Food is great. Visited on a Friday evening, got the table with no waiting time. Service was quick and nice. Our server was really courteous. All items we ordered came out great. Loved the quesadilla. Fish taco was decent too. Also tried Burritos and Pollo verde. Ambience is good and it felt lively inside.
